Aim: Surgery is most important for the treatment of a hydatid cyst. All steps of conventional hydatid surgery are the same as in a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach. Laparoscopy management is the gold standard for hydatid liver disease. We report the use of a laparoscopic approach for hydatid cysts of the liver. Methods and Materials: Nine patients with ten liver hydatid cysts were operated on laparoscopically. The mean operative time varied between 50 and 120 minutes. The mean duration of the hospital stay was between 3 and 9 days. There was no conversion to open surgery. Results: There was no major complication and mortality. To decrease the incidence of anaphylaxis, all patients were given 8mg of inj. dexamethasone, 60 minutes prior to surgery. There was no recurrence during the follow-up period of 3 to 23 months. Conclusion: Minimal access surgery is a safe, effective, viable and feasible option for the management of selective patients with hydatidosis of the liver
